Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Championship
The VEX Pan-Pacific Robotics Championship concluded Saturday evening at the Hawai`i Convention Center following one and a half days of heated competition. The top teams will now head to the VEX Robotics World Championship and the Championship of the Americas in April 2009.
The Blue Alliance, with two teams from California Academy of Mathematics and Science and the `Iolani School Iobotics Team, earned the championship title.
Other competitors that will advance to the World Championship and Championship of the Americas include teams from:
- Moanalua High School
- Lahainaluna High School
- McKinley High School
- Bellarmine College Preparatory
- Waiakea High School
- Campbell High School
- Highlands Intermediate School
- Kohala High School
Over the course of the competition, dozens of qualifying matches took place between middle school and high school robotics teams from Hawai‘i, California and Hong Kong.
Reflecting friendships that have emerged throughout the competition, several of the top competitors chose teams from schools in other states and from Hong Kong for their alliances in final rounds of competition.
